Job Title: Active Geelong Coordinator

Hours: Flexible (up to 20 hours per week) including occasional early morning and weekend work.

Location: Position is based in the Barwon South West Region, work location is predominately from home.
Remuneration: Up to $50, 000/year

Job Type: Independent Contractor (12-month appointment with potential of on-going). Open to job share

Note: As an independent contractor, candidate will need to have a registered ABN, insurance, their own computer, internet connection and vehicle

About Active Geelong

Active Geelong is a small, non-for-profit health promotion charity, who aims to inspire community participation in accessible and affordable physical activity initiatives
Active Geelong is a collaborative project that brings together leading businesses, doctors, researchers and individuals to address physical activity in the Geelong region.

It is a collective movement on a mission to:
• Make workplaces in the Geelong region the most active in Australia by 2030
• Make GPs in the Geelong region the most actively committed to promoting physical activity in Australia by 2030
• Ensure every resident of the Geelong region increases their daily physical activity level by 2030
• Be recognised as a movement that embraces the whole community

Role Summary

Our team are advertising for an innovative and organised health promotion professional to appoint as our new Active Geelong Coordinator.

This position will work alongside the Active Geelong Chair, Executive and Directors to lead the growth and development of the organisation into the future.

This flexible and varied role involves leadership, stakeholder engagement, health promotion, event and program management, organisation, and provides opportunities for strategic planning and innovative thinking.

The scope is broad requiring engagement with health, sporting, educational, business and local government organisations.

Applicants will benefit from a tertiary degree and experience in health promotion, education or physical activity, and is a good communicator with an engaging personality.

Role Description

This position provides leadership for Active Geelong’s mission to inspire community participation in accessible and enjoyable physical activity opportunities in the region.

Key Responsibility Areas & Tasks Include:
• Organisation of Active Geelong Key Meetings (Board, Sub Committee & Executive)
• Manage Key Stakeholder Relationships with Active Geelong Partners & Supporters
• Event Management of our key events including the Active Geelong Showcase, Serenity in the Stadium and Active Geelong Business Breakfast and Awards
• Lead the Active Workplace area including implementation of the ACTIVATE Your Workplace initiative.
• Support the Active Geelong Ambassadors Program
• Manage Active Geelong Website (with support from agency)
• Manage Active Geelong Social Media Campaigns, Strategy & PR alongside Circus Media
• Leadership of current Active Geelong Programs and support the development of new initiatives that support the aspirations of Active Geelong’s mission

Highly Desirable Qualifications, skills & experiences:
• Tertiary qualifications in health promotion, exercise physiology, education or communications
• Experience in working in health promotion, non-for-profit charities, or a similar field
• Experience in stakeholder engagement, event coordination and project management
• High level communication skills and demonstrated ability to work independently with positive outcomes
• Competent technology skills including online meetings, social media and basic website maintenance
• Demonstrate capacity for strategic thinking and innovative planning
