Movement Motivator FAQs

What do I need so I can join the program?

The Movement Motivator uses WhatsApp as the communication platform to engage with you, so you simply need a smartphone that can use WhatsApp.

Are you having problems with connecting your wearable device?

If yes, please e-mail the following to us at help@movementmotivator.com

1) The brand of the device (eg. Suunto, Garmin)

2) A screenshot of the error message you get when trying to connect your device

3) The time and date you tried to connect

4) The mobile number you use for WhatsApp.

What devices can I connect to the Movement Motivator app?

The devices which can be linked to the Movement Motivator program are Fitbit, Garmin, Polar, Suunto and TomTom and the platforms Google Fit and Strava.

Did you choose not to connect a wearable device during registration, but now you want to do this?

It’s a very simple process.  So long as you have already registered for the Movement Motivator program, simply type the word ‘link’ on the WhatsApp message platform and you will be sent the necessary link to enable you to link your wearable.

Are you getting weekly messages showing the incorrect number of active days?

Make sure you sync your wearable device daily so that your active days are captured as they happen.

What communication can I expect from The Movement Motivator?

As mentioned above, Agnes will ask you some questions about your health and your current physical activity level and also WHY you want to become fitter. The WHY is very important since when you are feeling a bit unmotivated – you will need to remind yourself of what you want to achieve by being more physically active.

Based on this information – Agnes will help you set up achievable goals. Each week Agnes will send you a few personalised ‘nudge’ messages on WhatsApp to keep you focused and motivated. Reach your goals, and you can earn incentives from partners of Active Geelong.

What happens if I can’t keep up the level of activity expected?

The beauty of the program is that you can pace yourself. So don’t worry that you won’t be able to keep up. If you don’t reach your weekly fitness goal – just try again the following week. Any activity is better for your health than none.

What happens when the 6 weeks comes to an end?

If you have enjoyed having the support of The Movement Motivator on the journey to a fitter you – why not sign up for another 6 weeks? Before you know it – physical activity will have become an integral part of your lifestyle and you will feel so much better for it. If you feel you have learnt what you need to from us – we will share valuable resources that can inspire you to continue being active. Remember that consistency is the key!

How does goal setting work for Week 1 and what are the timelines?

The first Monday of the program, Agnes will send you a button labelled ‘goal’ which you simply click on set your Week 1 goal. If you don’t click on this ‘goal’ button when you receive it, Agnes will send you two reminders to set this goal. You have all of Monday to set this first gaol so make sure you’ve done this by Monday night

What happens if I forget to click on the goal button and set my first goal on Monday?

If you forget and you only click on the goal button on Tuesday all later, it is too late to set a goal that week. However, all is not lost and Agnes will give you a chance to set your first goal the following Monday

How do I go about setting my weekly goal?

For the next six Mondays, Agnes will send you a button labelled ‘review’ which you simply click on and you’ll get feedback from your activity the previous week and you will be able to set your goal for the next week. On Mondays, if you don’t click the review button, Agnes will send you two reminders to set your goal.

What happens if I forget to click on the review button on Monday?

If you forget and only click on the review button on Tuesday or later – sadly it’s too late to set a goal for the week. However all is not lost, Agnes will simply keep the goal you set for the week prior as the new weeks goals. You activity will still be tracked and you’ll continue on the six week program as normal

Please remember, goal setting and progress tracking are two key motivators for keeping you active. By not clicking on the button on a Monday you are missing out on both these elements, so stay on track, set goals and stay motivated!
