Active Ambassador - Erin Hoare
Erin is a female footballer. She plays with Geelong Football Club after switching codes from elite netball in 2017. She is a postdoctoral researcher at Deakin University investigating food, physical activity and mental health.
She does a mix of training a few times a week. In her day-to-day work she takes breaks to get her legs moving. She also has a standing desk which allows her to take a break from sitting all day.
Erin was recently awarded with a Fulbright Scholarship which will allow her to conduct research at Boston University on the predictive potential of diet and physical activity across the life span for the prevention of depression and anxiety.
“I am passionate about being active from a professional perspective for my sport, but also from a personal perspective for my mental health. During and after exercising I feel less stressed and feel a great sense of achievement. I can build social connectedness and develop skills such as teamwork and leadership.”
